Site Update: Finalizing George Perez Website Version 7.0
Aug 11, 2026 | 03:24:10 PM | Vu
Although Version 7.0 started in September 2025, I was in the process of moving. I started building the structure (still working out all the bugs)... and understanding how to work on the website. I'll be building and re-adding things, as well as keeping the news archived accordingly.

Removed SocialKit
Sep 20, 2025 | 02:47:17 PM
That didn't last long. I've decided to remove SocialKit. Their free service had too many restrictions, one of which is that it would only refresh/sync the widget once a day. That's not how news works... so I just removed it and deleted my account.
Instead, I will give embedbsky.com a try. Let me know if it looks good?

SocialKit
Sep 16, 2025 | 10:31:40 AM
BlueSky doesn't offer their own emb feature, however a company called SocialKit will create a widget for BS, which is what I'm adding to the 'News' subpage.

Added Twitter and BlueSky
Sep 16, 2025 | 06:22:43 AM
Added Facebook embed to the home page. Twitter embed only displays old tweets, while BlueSky is just not very developed (they are not even supported by WordPress or Google Sites).

Backstory on this new project
Sep 09, 2025 | 08:59:36 AM
Just to give a little backstory on this whole project, it is because originally iBrave host shut down last year. I temporarily moved the website to TypePad, while I look for a new home. Turned out TypePad is shutting its door on September 30, 2025, so I am moving my content here. Who knows if it will last. The good news is that I have everything archived on my local computer.

iBrave Closure
News | 22 Jun 2024 | 11:16:13 AM | Vu
The George Perez Website 6.0 was quickly put together when I purchased the "Lifetime Unlimited" plan from iBrave in January 2023. After a year and a half, they delivered what they promised, but I've always known it was too good to be true. I was right, of course, iBrave Web Hosting is closing on November 1st, 2024. Any suggestions for a new web host, please let me know. I'm looking at inexpensive or free options.
>>>
We are writing to inform you of the forthcoming closure of iBrave on 1st November 2024 due to unforeseen personal circumstances. You may have noticed a decline in service levels recently, and we understand how concerning this can be.

iBrave Web Hosting
News | 05 Feb 2024 | 11:23:07 PM
When Google killed the classic Google Sites in 2022, I didn’t know what to do. I was using Google to host my George Perez website since 2008. For a while, I did look into hosting it on Wordpress but their plans can be as cheap as $4 a month, or as much as $25 a month… and there’s a limit to how much storage you can use. Plus, I believe you have to use their Wordpress console, which is limited to what you can or cannot do (for example, I know they don’t allow running your own custom scripts). I didn’t end up going with the platform in the end.
Then, in January 2023, I found iBrave Web Hosting. For $99, they will host your website, “for life”! It’s unlimited storage, unlimited pages, it sounded too good to be true. I took a chance on it, if they are not a good service… I’m only out a hundred.
After using iBrave for over one year, I can truly recommend this service. It’s not the easiest or user friendly, but if you know what you’re doing (or willing to learn), then you won’t have a problem. They were true to their words, I have not had to pay any additional fees, and it does seem to be truly unlimited.
To be absolutely honest, I don’t know how they are making money. I’ve looked at other hosts, they all want a monthly subscription fee. I don’t want iBrave to go bankrupt, so I’m promoting and proudly displaying their icon on my Perez website.
So, if you feel like you could build your own website, I will recommend using iBrave to host. If you rather not do the website thing, but would prefer to have a business/custom email address, this option is also available. This is useful if you have multiple users who contribute to the website or if you’re a business, you can create different roles in your organization. For example, sales@yourwebsite.com will direct to your sales person.
If you break down the cost for multiple users - let’s say three users, you’re going to spend too much money with Google or MicroSoft.
iBrave also offers even more features, and I haven’t explored them all, but I’m quite content with the unlimited website hosting and unlimited email/users option… it’s well worth that initial $99 one-time fee. If you explore web hosting from Google or Microsoft, you’re looking to spend at least $300 for storage alone.
In addition to CDN, Web Tools (MySQL Databases, PHP Configuration), Email, Domain Name Management, Security, and Logs/Stats, iBrave also offers “One-Click Installs”. There are 80 to choose from, I do not know 99% of these options, but if you’re a web developer, I’m sure you know these names. To be honest, I only recognize Wordpress, as I’ve used them in the past.

Leaving Google
News | 13 Jan 2024 | 09:29:44 AM
A little website update.
You guys might be wondering why I'm archiving old/important emails and saving and moving things around. That's because I'm working on moving out of the Google email and services. It's hard (probably impossible) to leave Google behind.
You see, since 2021, Google has been slowly charging me for services that used to be free. I've been pretty forgiving, I mean it was "free", right? However, since I started paying them last year for services (over $250 paid to Google), they have not been delivering what they promised.
So, anyway, I'm switching over to another service.
How this might affect the website is that news might not be up-to-date, since I'll be using Bing and I'm not sure how good their sources are.

George Perez Website Version 4 is back online

Version 4 is partially back online (I am only at 50% uploaded).
I am in the process of mapping the news as a directory... but this will take time that I don't have.

George Perez Website Version 4 on Archive.org
News | 13 Dec 2023 | 10:32:55 PM
As you know, Google have removed the George Perez Version 4 off the internet.
Version 4 contains news article from 2008 to 2021. I'm looking at converting those news article to Version 6 (the current version), but this will take a lot of time as I want to reformat them to fit into the theme of Version 6. It's just too time consuming to do this right now.
I do have a complete backup of the entire website on my local drive and I've been thinking about uploading it to the web hosting server for archival purposes. Unfortunately, the website, over the course of 14 years has grown to 7GB of data.
Anyway, I'll let you know if or when I upload Version 4 on the internet. I'm looking at January 2024.
In the meantime, you can access Version 4 via archive.org.
